Privacy & cookies

This page describes how HJL Solutions uses data when you browse the site, register for free education and use your HJL account.

Who runs this site

HJL SOLUTIONS LIMITED, the venture studio founded by Harry Livingstone. The studio builds and operates its own products, including Timo Trades and bubi.studio.

Cookies and similar storage

Essential storage is used for your cookie preference and, when you register or sign in, to keep your HJL account session secure. These functions do not depend on marketing consent.

If you accept optional cookies, HJL SOLUTIONS LIMITED will use advertising and analytics cookies (from Meta) to understand which posts and adverts bring people to the free training, and to show relevant follow-up adverts. These are not set unless you accept, and nothing is loaded from Meta before you do.

If you accept, we also record your visit with Bubi, the analytics platform HJL Solutions uses: a random identifier is kept in your browser, and we record the pages you view and how long you spend on them. If you then register, that visit history is joined to your account, so we can see which pages helped. If you do not accept, we only count page views anonymously — nothing is stored in your browser and no identifier is created. Choosing essential-only later removes the identifier.

You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie preferences link in the site footer, or change your cookie preferences here. Choosing essential-only removes the advertising cookies already stored and reloads the page so any advertising script already running is unloaded.

Campaign tags in links

When you submit a registration, HJL records the landing page, referrer and campaign tags already present in that request so it can understand where that registration came from. This first-party registration record is kept whether or not you accept optional marketing cookies. If you decline optional cookies, HJL does not persist a campaign identifier on your device for later visits and does not load Meta tracking.

The registration form

When you register, HJL stores your name, email address, an opaque random visitor reference, the registration source evidence described above and a record of the training you requested. HJL uses this to create and secure your account, deliver the requested training, preserve progress and measure the effectiveness of its own education funnel. The browser reference contains no name, email address or other encoded personal information.

Account delivery is necessary to provide the service you request. HJL relies on its legitimate interests for proportionate, first-party funnel measurement and protecting the integrity of that service; optional marketing cookies and marketing email remain consent-based.

Registering for training does not automatically join you to the HJL Newsletter. Any email choice is described on the relevant registration form. The separate Sherlock newsletter survey uses the explicit newsletter consent described below.

Your signed-in activity

Once your HJL account is created, HJL records the pages you visit, when you visited them, active time, progress, safe interaction counts and deliberately named actions such as opening training or completing a lesson. These records are connected to your account so HJL can deliver the training, preserve your progress, secure the service and understand the complete education journey.

This internal record is not marketing and does not capture passwords, form contents, messages or page text. Detailed browser-journey records are retained for 180 days; necessary account, security and completion records may be retained for longer where the service or law requires it. The optional marketing choice remains separate.

HJL to Timo Trades member offers

If you complete eligible training and choose a Timo Trades offer, HJL sends Timo Trades only a signed, short-lived eligibility proof containing a pseudonymous HJL subject reference and the approved offer and campaign identifiers. HJL does not send Timo Trades an arbitrary price or its customer database. Timo Trades separately verifies the proof and controls its own price, payment, account and entitlement records.

The free HJL Newsletter and Sherlock survey

You can join the HJL Newsletter directly or through the Sherlock survey, where Sherlock is the free bonus for joining. HJL SOLUTIONS LIMITED is responsible for this newsletter. The final survey step clearly identifies the newsletter and asks for a separate, unticked opt-in. Newsletter consent is recorded separately from acceptance of the Terms of Use, with the wording and form version you saw, your choice and when and how you signed up.

For a direct newsletter signup we collect your first name and email address. For the Sherlock newsletter survey we also keep your answers about AI experience, intended uses and goals. We use them to understand our audience and shape relevant newsletter content. We keep the signup source, subscription and bonus tags, and necessary consent, delivery and email-preference records. We use your consent to send the welcome email and the HJL Newsletter: practical AI ideas, studio lessons and updates about HJL’s ventures, including Sherlock.

Bubi manages the signup and subscriber records. Emails are sent through HJL’s connected Resend account as Harry at HJL ([email protected]). Completing the survey without the required newsletter opt-in does not subscribe you. Accepting the website terms by itself is not newsletter consent. Declining optional cookies does not prevent joining.

You can withdraw newsletter consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in an email, without signing in. This stops future marketing and automated newsletter follow-up; it does not remove your Sherlock bonus or require you to delete software already supplied. Unsubscribing does not itself erase your contact and consent history. We retain subscription, preference and bonus-access records for their stated purposes and to respect your choices; you can separately request access, correction or erasure using the contact details below.

Sherlock bonus-page access and necessary security records are used to provide the bonus you requested, separately from permission to send newsletter emails. We do not enrol someone into the newsletter merely because they accepted general terms or completed another training signup.

Your rights
